In preparation for the 2027 General election in Nigeria, the African Democratic Congress ADC, Ebonyi State Chapter has held a convergence summit with coalition partners with the view to strengthening Alliance for a better Nigeria and for the party to emerge victorious in the forthcoming Nigeria General election in 2027. The summit was held on 6th June , 2025 at Akadike Suite Abakaliki, and had in attendance coalition partners, especially the Coalition for the promotion of Democracy, COPDEM
Addressing party faithful, partners and other coalition members, the Ebonyi State Chairman of ADC, Dr. Mrs Jenifer Adibe said the summit was coming at no better time than now when it is glaring that the task to rescue Nigeria requires a coalition of efforts and a hand shake across the Niger as typified in the logo of ADC.
“Am delighted to address this great gathering today. Let me start by commending the national leadership of our party and the NVC Southeast for all their resilient efforts at moving this great party forward, particularly the new move aimed at strengthening our alliance and forging a united front in our quest for a better Nigeria.
“This summit is a testament to our party’s commitment to building a stronger, more united, and more prosperous Nigeria. As we prepare for the 2027 elections, we recognize that we cannot achieve our goals alone. We need the support and collaboration of like minded political parties and stakeholders who share our vision for a better Nigeria.” She stated.
The Ebonyi ADC party Chairperson called for commitment, dedication and passion to achieve the desired objective of the coalition for a better Nigeria
“As we converge today, let us remember that our party, the ADC is build on the principles of justice, equality and fairness. We are a Party that believes in the potential of every Nigerian, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or religion. Hence, our logo which depicts Shaking of Hands.
“As we move forward, let us remember that our strength lies in our diversity, our creativity, and our resilience. Let us draw on the wisdom of our elders, the energy of our youth, and the expertise of our professionals. To our coalition partners, I extend our warmest welcome. We are honoured to have you with us and we look forward to working with you to build a brighter future for Nigeria.
“To our members, I urge you to remain committed, dedicated and passionate about our party’s vision. Let us continue to work together to build a party that is truly of the people, by the people and for the people.” Dr. Mrs Adibe concluded.
On her part, the Ebonyi State chairperson of Coalition for for the protection of Democracy COPDEM, Mrs. Florence Igwe Nome said the convergence summit was not out of convenience, but out of conviction.
“We are here today because we recognize that Nigeria is in crisis. Over the past decade, we have witnessed an alarming deterioration in nearly every sector. The economy has collapsed under mismanagement, insecurity has become a daily nightmare, and corruption remains deeply entrenched in the very fabrics of our governance. Opportunities have been stolen, hopes dimmed, and voices silenced.
“The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy, COPDEM is a non partisan citizen led movement founded on the ideals of equity, justice and democratic accountability. We are not mere spectators, we are active participants in the shaping of a new Nigeria – one where every citizen matters, every voice count, and every government action is subject to scrutiny.
“In pursuit of this noble cause, we have forged a strategic and purposeful partnership with the African Democratic Congress ADC, a party whose values, vision and grassroots orientation align squarely with ours. Today, through this convergence, we are officially launching the COPDEM-ADC Coalition in Ebonyi State.” She stated.
In a key note address, the Executive Director of Initiative for Youth Development and Impact Makers in Nigeria, Mr. Israel Ekene Mbam who spoke on Strengthening Alliance for a better Nigeria, stressed on need for collaborative efforts and importance of shared responsibilities and actions that will create lasting positive change in Nigeria.
“Building strong alliance is crucial for bringing together diverse expertise, resources, and perspectives to tackle the challenges facing Nigeria effectively. I many countries of the world, positive changes occur when people who who share same passion comes together to form alliance. With formidable alliance, we can together make Nigeria great again.” He concluded.
The convergence summit had other presentations, goodwill messages and commitment to spread the message of alliance and collaborative efforts to building a better Nigeria through ADC and it’s partners come 2027 General election.
