The Registrar of Ebonyi State Development Center , Dr. Lawrence Otusinkama, said the Examination Development Centre has attained new milestones under his leadership and under the present administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
He made this known while receiving the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Education led by Hon Barr Nwodo Aloysius Nwodo who paid him an oversight function visit to the Centre.
Dr. Otusinkama disclosed that the Centre has cleared the backlog of First School Leaving Certificates, now releases results and certificates within 30 days of examinations, and has fully digitalised its operations.
According to the Registrar. “These reforms have enabled candidates to proceed to the next stage of their academic journey without unnecessary delays, “Under Governor Nwifuru, the Centre has witnessed a remarkable turnaround that has restored public trust in Ebonyi State’s examination system.”
He noted that in the past, there was widespread skepticism about state-conducted examinations. But with the current administration’s focus on transparency, standardisation, and credibility, parents, schools, and candidates now regard the state examinations as credible alternatives with real academic and career value.
Dr. Otusinkama further revealed that the Centre has maintained affordable examination fees and strictly adheres to its approved programme of activities in the conduct of all state examinations adding that the Centre was provided with a Senna bus by the State Government and continues to receive adequate attention and support.
The Registrar assured the good people of Ebonyi State that the Centre will continue to live up to expectations and sustain the tempo of service delivery.
Speaking earlier, Hon. Barr. Aloysius Nwodo said the oversight visit was aimed at assessing the operational level of the Centre, including progress made and existing challenges.
He assured the Registrar and staff that the Committee’s engagement was not to witch-hunt but to facilitate positive outcomes in line with the Governor’s _People’s Charter of Needs_ agenda for education.
The Committee Chairman applauded Dr. Otusinkama for his administrative ingenuity, which he said has brought visible development to the Centre. He also lauded Governor Nwifuru for his demonstrated passion for education, noting that the revitalisation of the Examination Development Centre is a clear testament to that commitment.
In their separate contributions, the Deputy Leader of the House, Hon. Joseph Ununu and the member representing Edda East Constituency, Hon. Stephen Orji Igwe, also commended the Registrar for his pragmatic approach to enhancing examination development in the state.
In a vote of thanks, the Accountant of the Centre, Mrs. Anthonia Nwankwo, expressed appreciation to the Committee for the visit and pledged the Centre’s continued commitment to improved service delivery for the benefit of Ebonyi people.
The oversight visit underscores the 7th Assembly’s Commitment to monitoring and supporting key institutions driving the education sector under the present administration.
