Ebonyi State Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening citizens’ engagement in governance as part of efforts to promote transparency and accountability in the state’s budget process.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Engagement, Hon. Nwanchor Paulinus Maduabuchi, gave the assurance on Monday, March 2, 2026, when he received the leadership of the Development & Integrity Intervention Goal Foundation (DIG), led by its Executive Director, Chief Ajah Chima Oliver.
Speaking during the meeting, Chief Ajah disclosed that the visit was aimed at seeking government partnership and participation in the forthcoming launch of the Ebonyi State Administrative Strategy for Citizens’ Engagement and Participation in Budget Processes.
He explained that the initiative is designed to contribute to the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 by improving citizens’ participation in local governance through the development of a structured engagement strategy in Ebonyi State.
The DIG Executive Director further highlighted the organisation’s contributions to the state’s 2025 and 2026 budget preparation processes through the Community Charter of Demand (CCD), which aggregates community needs and integrates them into government planning.
Responding, Hon. Nwanchor assured the delegation of his office’s readiness to collaborate with the foundation, stressing that the present administration is anchored on the People’s Charter, which prioritises inclusiveness and community-driven governance.
He noted that partnership with civil society organisations remains critical to enhancing public trust and ensuring sustainable development in the state.
