Some nurses in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital were said to have staged a protest after a relative of a patient flogged a nurse mercilessly on and removed her teeth on Monday this week.

The ugly incident happened at Federal Teaching Hospital, FETHA along Abakaliki – Enugu expressway.

Speaking to newsmen under anonymity, a nurse at the hospital said they were protesting because of how they are being treated sometimes by relatives of some patients.

“This morning, a relative of a patient flogged our member mercilessly and removed one of her teeth. We are not happy and that’s why we are protesting”, the nurse said.

As at the time of filing this report, efforts to ascertain why the relative of the patients flogged the nurse proved abortive.

Efforts to also speak with government officials also yielded no positive results.
