A delegation from the Federal Ministry of Education has applauded Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s transformational strides in the Education sector, describing his administration”s policies as a model for advancing child development and Education equity in Nigeria.

The commendation came during a courtesy visit to the Ebonyi state Commissioner for education, Professor Paul A. Nwobasi, at the ministry’s headquarters, Block 4, Centenary City, Abakaliki. The delegation, led by the Department of Basic Education, was in the state to engage stakeholders on promoting the rights and welfare of Nigeria children through Education.

Receiving the team, Professor Nwobasi urged the federal ministry to remain steadfast in championing initiatives that prioritise the growth, safety and intellectual development of children.

“Child development is not just a social service- it is the very foundation upon which sustainable Education stands,” he stated.

He described schools as instruments of national rebirth, stressing that any nation or sub-national entity that neglects the training of its children has “fundamentally failed it’s mission”.

Highlighting Ebonyi state’s commitment under Governor Nwifuru’s leadership, Professor Nwobasi said that substantial investments have been made to ensure inclusive access to quality education across the state.

“From urban centers to remote communities, no child is left behind. We have established more unity and public schools and introduced sports and debate competitions to harness the intellectual and moral potentials of our children,” he explained.

He encouraged the Federal Ministry’s delegation not only to sensitize children but also to Education parents and local stakeholders on their Civic duties, “Your visit will go a long way in reinforcing the governor’s developmental blueprint for education. Together we can deepen our collective impact, ” he added.
Earlier in her remarks, the Director of Basic Education at the federal ministry of education, Mrs Agatha Ogefere, outlined the purpose of the visit.

She noted that their mission was to share strategies for addressing issues affecting Nigeria children and to engage state-level actors in meaningful dialogue.

We are here to exchange ideas and present materials that will help shape policies and practices. We hope to receive valuable feedback from stakeholders in Ebonyi State that will enrich our national efforts, ” Mrs. Ogefere stated.

While handing over seminar materials to the Commissioner. She urged all stakeholders in the state to embrace the on-going national conference and to contribute to the formulation of practical solutions aimed at improving educational outcomes and safeguarding the future of Nigerian children.
