Group Takes Protest to JAMB, Demands System Reform

A Civil Society Organisation; Women’s Aid Collective (WACOL), in collaboration with Southeast Human Rights Civil Society Situation Room, Southeast Women’s Network (SEWNET), and 50/50 Action Women Group, on Tuesday led a powerful march to JAMB office in Abakaliki to demand urgent action, accountability, and systemic reforms in the admission process in Nigeria.

The group expressed worry that thousands of Nigerian students have been disadvantaged by recent controversies in JAMB results, and was time for change and reforms in the system.

The protest saw Students from tertiary institutions and women’s groups who joined forces to demand fairness and transparency from JAMB.

The protest was Led by Prof. Joy Ezeilo (SAN, OON), a renowned human rights defender and Executive Director of WACOL, marched to JAMB Office , showing their determination to hold JAMB accountable.

In their words, “we will not be silenced! We demand a fair and transparent admission process that works for all Nigerian students”.
