Staff and students of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki has continued to express optimism on the capacity of the newly appointed and inaugurated Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Michael Ugota Awoke to restore the lost glory and fortunes of the institution.

A cross-section of the University Community interviewed, expressed their gratitude to His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, GGCEHF for appointing Prof. Awoke as VC. They described the new Vice Chancellor as an experienced university administrator who has all it takes to make EBSU great again.

Some member of the staff specifically enumerated some of the giant strides recorded by the new VC when he served as Work and Study Director, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, ASUU Chairman, among others, and reiterated that the likes of Prof. Awoke is exactly what EBSU needs in time like this to restore the dignity of the university.

Meanwhile, the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Awoke, who describes himself as a welfarist, has continued to promise to give priority to the welfare of workers and students of the university. On the part of workers’ welfare, he assures that staff salaries shall henceforth be paid on or before 28th of every month. He also promises to do all within his abilities to see that Ebonyi State University is gazetted in his tenure as Vice Chancellor.

On students’ welfare, Professor Awoke announced that his appointment as VC heralds the end to sorting and exploitation of students in all its ramifications in EBSU. He warns to apply the full weight of the university law on anyone found guilty in any of these areas without any compromise.

Prof. Awoke also cautioned against compliance to duties and urged the university to reciprocate the new university management’s quest to better their welfare through greater zeal and dedication to duties as we all work together to make Ebonyi State University better than we met it.

Other principal officers of the university appointed and inaugurated together with Prof Awoke include Professor: Ike-Elechi Ogba, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics; Prof. Micahel Ajanwachukwu, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration;
