The Chairman’s Birthday message to the former Governor reads;

May I, Hon. Chief Ajah Emmanuel Ogbonna, the Executive Chairman of Ivo Local Government Area, on behalf of my lovely family, the good people of Ivo LGA and our great party APC warmly celebrate the father of modern Ebonyi State, a rare gem, a man who came, saw and conquered, His Excellency, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE GGCEHF CON Akubaraoha, the former Governor of Ebonyi State, former Senator, Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone and the minister of Works, Federal Republic of Nigeria on your glorious birth anniversary. It is a glorious experience for the rare people who have lived just lives.
Your Excellency, it is no doubt that when a man is perfect in what he is doing, he is only geared for the peak of his career. As a progressive career man who is very scientific and precision in handling assignments, you made the state proud when you were made the PDP Party Chairman in Ebonyi state, an office in which you distinguished yourself and showed the world that you were embedded with leadership virtue.
Due to your leadership ingenuity and outstanding performances in the office in discharging your given assignment, the state had no fear in nominating you, amongst the many choices, as the deputy governor to run with His Excellency, Chief Martin N. Elechi in his second tenure.
Your performance in displaying true loyalty and diligence to your master and duty distinguished you that when Ebonyi State was at the verge of going into oblivion and sliding into backwardness, the question of “who would rescue the young state became resounding. But the dwindling hopes of every Ebonyi man were cast a light of future and hope when you, finally, in 29th of May, 2015 assumed office as the governor of Ebonyi State. The light started shining and the revolution for urbanization of Ebonyi state took a high crescendo.
First among what you did was to reposition the image of the state in the global world. You took the bold step of turning Ebonyi State into the salt of the nation. You took a tour round the state to identify with the key problem areas of the people at home and in diasporas, a feat only borne leaders can exhibit. You also took a tour round the nation and the world but this time to identify the development prospects of the young Ebonyi state and how to collaborate and tap the methods of the developed countries and step their methods down to Ebonyi State. You invited foreign experts to the state to institutionalize quality in perfection and also involved Ebonyi sons in various technological innovative fields in the western countries to contribute their quotas in making Ebonyi state a darling in the heart of the world.
At the end, you made Ebonyi state not just a business friendly state for both foreign and local investors to thrive, you also made Ebonyi State a tourist state among her contemporaries. Even without oil and other hard minerals and fat allocation, you made Ebonyi State an enviable state to her contemporaries who are still grappling for growth even with the presence of the abundance of both allocations and hard mineral deposits that boost their economy.
With meager resources, you changed Ebonyi State into the Dubai of the United States emirate and Las Vegas of the United States of America. The St. Margaret International Market is one to reckon with in the African south Sahara, you gave Ebonyi State the Muhamadu Buhari International Airport now Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, the Muhamadu Buhari light tunnel, over 13 twin flyovers in all the strategic busy traffic junctions across the state, water fountains in the spectacular roundabouts in the Capital Territory, the President Muhamadu Buhari Lodge, Her Excellency Aisha Buhari lodge, King David University of Medical Science, Uburu, College of Aviation, decorative Ornamental Lights, Street Lights, unbeatable security, steady power supply, financial empowerment to both indigenes and non-indigenes alike and even Ebonyians in other states, Civil Service friendly environment, instant payment of salary amongst other giant strides of yours.
Even as the Governor of Ebonyi State, you were able to galvanize the South East Governors and your distinguished performance endeared you to the forum of the South East Governors and you were chosen to be their chairman, a position you handled until the end of your tenure in office as the Governor of Ebonyi State.
It is no doubt, a laudable feat when you contested and won the seat as the senator of Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone and your outstanding leadership style separated you as the Deputy Majority Leader of the esteemed House of Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a position you occupied until you were sworn to the oath of office as the Minister of Works to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. You are a colossal man with the vision of world champion.
