The National Union of Local Government Employee, NULGE in Ikwo LGA has said no Worker who were cleared at the recent verification, including primary and secondary school teachers in the council is been owed 2024 salary.
Speaking to Peoples’ Guide reporters on the issue of delayed payment of October, November and December salaries of LGA workers in Ebonyi State, one of the leaders of the union, comrade Samson Nweke noted that though the screening done within the period delayed the payments, he was happy that as at 3rd February, 2025, all the workers, including those who were having issues have been paid.
“I can confirm to you that workers at the local Government level have been paid their salaries up till December 2024. The few persons who were having problems have been sorted out. And so, if any staff in Ikwo local Government, tells you he or she have not received salary, then such person should visit his ot her bank or print their bank statement, because the money is there.
“Though the verification exercise delayed the payments before now, we are happy that our dear Governor and our performing Chairman places the welfare of the people, especially workers in their priority list. So, we are hopeful that there would be no more delays in payment of our subsequent salaries, and those who are yet to receive their money gets it as soon as possible” he stated.
Recall there have been reports that workers at some LGAs, including Ikwo LGA have owed workers, especially primary and secondary school teachers for three months in 2024.
However, the NUT Chairman and some teachers in the council have refuted the claim, alleging that some of their members were yet to be paid, especially October salary.
