Norwegian Ambassador to Nigeria, Svein Baera has arrived Ebonyi State on official visit to Ebonyi State College of Education, Ikwo, other health and Agricultural centres in the Council. The visit according to report is aimed at increasing partnership and the reactivation of agricultural programs, educational initiatives, maternal and New born care in Ikwo and other parts of Ebonyi State.
The Norwegian Envoy was received at Enugu Airport by some stakeholders of Ikwo LGA, including the Member Representing Ikwo/ Ezza South Federal Constituency, Rt Hon. Chinedu Ogah, The Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council, Hon. Barr Sunday Basil Nwankwo, Deputy Principal Secretary to the Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Oke Oreke, Member II of the Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Monday Nwigbo and other key stakeholders of the council.
Speaking to Journalists on reasons for the Norwegian Ambassador’s visit, Reps Chinedu Ogah who is also the Chairman House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, noted that the visit was a fallout of his Courtesy call on the Norwegian Ambassador at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Abuja, on 20th November 2024,
where he appealed for more partnership and the relocation of Norwegian development initiatives to Ikwo LGA and other parts of Ebonyi State
He recalled the strategic developmental roles played by Norwegian missionaries in areas of health, agriculture and education, especially in Ikwo Local Government Area.
Ogah adds that the visit will further reinforce the historical ties between Norway and Ikwo, and expressed hope that Ambassador Svein Baera has come to Ebonyi State to advance the partnership he requested during his visit to their Embassy.
The visitors on arrival were taken to many project sites including the Abakaliki International Airport, AMURT hospital at Okpitumo among other places. The team is to conclude the visits and partnership discussion before leaving the State
