The Executive Chairman of Ikwo LGA, Chief Barr. Sunday Nwankwo, member representing Ikwo and Ezza South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon Chinedu Ogah and other political office holders in Ikwo have joined the call for massive Sensitization and registration of new voters in the ongoing process.
They made the call when the State Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru (FON) Youth Movement, led by its National President, Comrade Chinedu Emerike, stormed the local government to sensitize youth on the ongoing registration of voters by INEC, and to Inaugurate the LGA and Wards Executive of the body.
In his welcome remark the Executive Chairman of Ikwo LGA, Chief Barr Sunday Basil Nwankwo enumerated several measures his administration has put in place towards boosting the ongoing registration of Voters by INEC in Ikwo LGA to include Deployment of buses on daily basis to bring people from different Wards to the local government headquarters for the registration, Mobilization of the registration facilitators and aiding INEC in the provision of facilities needed for speedy registration.
The Council Boss assured the Youth body that by the end of the registration process Ikwo LGA will emergence overall first in the local government with the highest number registered voters.
He commended the state Governor, His Excellency, Rt Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his impactful leadership and assured him that during 2027 general election Ikwo LGA will come first in the state in popular votes cast for him.
On his part, Rt. Hon. Comrade Chinedu Ogah in his remarks, commended Governor Nwifuru for his inclusive and youth-oriented governance. He praised the governor for entrusting young people with key roles in government through strategic appointments and empowerment programs, describing his leadership as progressive, people-focused, and worthy of emulation.
The lawmaker urged all eligible citizens to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), emphasizing that it is the most vital tool for sustaining the developmental momentum under the current administration.
In his welcome speech, the Coordinator FON Youth Movement in Ikwo LGA and Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security, Ikwo LGA, Hon. Desmond Edeke assured the parent body of Ikwo youths enduring and massive support for the administration of, Rt. Hon.Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
Other people who gave their goodwill messages including the Coordinator of Ikwo Development Center, Hon. Onyekachi Nwoba, and the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr Donatus Ilang.
The BOT Chairman, FON Youth Movement, Chiboy Nwenyi and others cautioned Ikwo youths against engaging in vices and other untoward conducts which according to them doesn’t pay at the end.
The National President, FON Youth Movement and Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of the State on Youth Mobilization, Comrade Chinedu Emerike in his speech encouraged Ikwo people who have come of age and those who have lost their voter card to take advantage of the current registration of Voters to get a new voter card.
Highlight of the event was the inauguration of FON Youth Movement Ward Executives in Ikwo LGA.
