From Charles Iteshi
The Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, Rt Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah OON has commended the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for what he described as courageous, proactive, and people-centered efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace in the Ezza/Effium axis of Ohaukwu Local Government Area.
Ogah stated that the governor’s recent pronouncements, including the signing of a bill into law to legalize and make binding the force accord, as well as the creation of autonomous communities, marked a defining moment in the collective pursuit of unity, justice, and peaceful coexistence in the state.
He also applauded the Ebonyi State House of Assembly for the swift passage of the peace bill, noting that it legally supported the resolution and territorial demarcation between the Effium and Ezza-Effium communities. He added that the legislative action demonstrated a sincere commitment to healing deep-rooted wounds and preventing further loss of lives and destruction of property.
As a Representative of the people and a firm advocate for peaceful conflict resolution, Ogah enjoined traditional leaders, youths, stakeholders, and the general public to respect the state government’s decisions and fully embrace the force accord. He emphasized the importance of laying down hostilities and redirecting collective energy toward rebuilding and development.
He expressed hope that history would remember the moment not for the pain of the past, but for the courage shown in choosing peace. Ogah called on all sons and daughters of Ezza and Effium to become ambassadors of peace and safeguard the future of their communities by embracing this opportunity for reconciliation.
He concluded by encouraging everyone to stand united in support of Governor Nwifuru’s vision for a peaceful and progressive Ebonyi State.
