The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Odunwa has called on the National Assembly to speedily pass the Bill seeking for the Establishment of National Institute of Film and Media Technology in Ukawu, Ebonyi State.

The Speaker who represented Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, during the public hearing conducted by the House of Representatives Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values, said the Institute when established will create more employment and drive national development.

The Bill seeking to establish the National Institute for Film and Media Technology in Ukawu, Ebonyi State, is sponsored by Hon. Nkemkanma Kama, representing Ohanivo Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State.

Speaking further on the position of Ebonyi State Government on the Bill, Rt. Hon. Odunwa explained that the proposed Institute holds great promise as a national hub for creative excellence, technical innovation, and capacity building in Nigeria’s film and media industry.

He expressed appreciation to the sponsor for championing such a visionary initiative, and acknowledged its significance in advancing national development. He also emphasized that Ebonyi State, under the forward-thinking leadership of Governor Nwifuru, offers a safe and enabling environment for the Institute to thrive—just as it increasingly does for innovation and growth across sectors.

Speaker Odunwa therefore urged the National Assembly to expedite the passage of the Bill to ensure its timely implementation.
